Introduction

Université de Nantes was founded in the 15th century but abolished during the French Revolution. After nearly 200 years, it reopened in 1962 and went on to become one of the top French universities.Today, Université de Nantes is one of France's top multidisciplinary universities. It is located in an attractive area boasting strong economic and demographic growth over the past two decades.

Previous students have been placed in CHU Nantes (Hotel Dieu) and Hopital Nord (Laennec) to do: Plastic Surgery & Burns; Internal Medicine; A&E; Cardio-Thoracic Surgery; Neurology; Gastroenterology; Nephrology; Obstetrics & Gynaecology; Dermatology and Rheumatology.

Location

Nantes is a city in West France, located on the Loire River, 50 km (31 mi) from the Atlantic coast. The city is the sixth largest in France, with a metropolitan area of about 900,000 inhabitants.

Nantes is the capital city of the Pays de la Loire region and the Loire-Atlantique département and also the largest city in the Grand-Ouest, North western France in English. Together with Vannes, Rennes and Carhaix, it was one of the major cities of the historic province of Brittany, and the ancient Duchy of Brittany. Nantes is culturally Breton and still widely regarded as its capital city.
