5 Reasons to Consider Universitat des Saarlandes

  • Brilliant location to travel to other countries in Europe – two hour train journey to Paris, and close links to Brussels and Amsterdam!
  • Located just by the border with France, by the small town of Dudweiler. The University is a campus University, nestled in a woodland area, a unique experience!
  • It was founded with the intention of being a “European University”, and this is still the case today, with a strong European perspective to its education.
  • Despite being in Germany, it is a merger of German and French educational traditions, with courses taught in both languages, which makes this a unique University if you are a language student!
  • Its presence as a small University has made the local town Dudweiler into a vibrant student town, meaning the opportunity to engage in a great student community in a beautiful location

Introduction

Universität des Saarlandes, Homburg offers students studying German the chance to undertake a placement at a modern teaching hospital affiliated with the medical faculty. Located in a unique landscape on the edge of the Palatinate forest, the medical faculty and hospital is one of the largest employers in Homburg. The comprehensive and very varied tasks around teaching, research and treatment are carried out by around 110 professors and more than 300 other doctors, psychologists and scientists.

In order to apply to Universität des Saarlandes for your placement, you will need to complete their own application form "Zulassungsantrag"and learning agreement found below in the Links & Resources section.. You will also need to submit a transcript of your exam results, which can be obtained from the medical school examinations office. Please note that this may take a couple of weeks to process so you must ensure that you request your transcript with plenty of time before the deadline. Please then hand your completed forms in to the European Studies Administrator(s) in The Medical School.
