Submission Pending - Change in location
What is this process?
If you are a PGR in submission pending and are planning to leave the UK, you are required by the terms and conditions of your student route visa to inform The University of Manchester about the change to your location.
In advance of your change in loocation, you should complete the below form on My Placement. This form must only be completed if you have received approval for submission pending.
You should submit the form at least 6 weeks in advance of the change to your location, and is only applicable to those with a student visa sponsored by The University of Manchester.
Changes to your submission pending itinerary should only be made in exceptional circumstances.
The submission pending period gives you more time to complete the writing of your thesis or dissertation beyond the end of your programme. You will be able to submit at any point during the submisison pending period. Supervision expectations in this period vary between discplines and it is the responsibility of the PGR to come to an understanding with their supervisor(s) about the frequency and duration of supervision meetings during this period. The minimum requirement during the submisison pending period is that the PGR and supervisor(s) will have meaningful contact (e.g via phone, email, face-to-face meetings, online meetings etc.) at least every month, and that this contact should be recorded in eProg.

Before completing the form, you should have:
- reminded yourself of your thesis submission deadline, and therefore the end date of your submisison pending period. This date can be found on your My Profile page in eProg.
- checked if there are any implications for your visa status, including the end date. Visa sponsorship is maintained on the basis that there is intention to return to the UK before the end of the submission pending period. If you are considering applying for an extension to submisison pending, this may impact your visa status. Further guidance is available from the Student Immigration Team.
- discussed the change in your location with your supervisor(s)
- discussed the change in your location with your sponsor if you are on a funded studentship
