Submission Pending - Change in location
What is this process?
If you are in submission pending and are planning to leave the UK you are required by the terms and conditions of your student route visa to inform the University.
This questionnaire must only be completed if you have received approval for submission pending.
In advance of your change in location please complete the following questionnaire. This questionnaire should be submitted at least 6 weeks in advance of your change in location and is only applicable to those with a student visa sponsored by the University of Manchester.
Any changes to the itinerary should only be made in exceptional circumstances.
The submission pending period gives you more time to complete the writing of your thesis or dissertation beyond the end of your programme. You will be able to submit at any point during the submission pending period. Supervision expectations in this period vary between disciplines and it is the responsibility of the PGR to come to an understanding with their supervisor(s) about the frequency and duration of supervision meetings in this period. The minimum requirement during the submission pending period is that the PGR and supervisor(s) will have meaningful contact (e.g. via phone, email, face-to-face meetings, online meeting etc.) at least every month and that this contact should be recorded in eProg.

Before completing the questionnaire you should have:
- reminded yourself of your thesis submission deadline and therefore the end date of your submission pending period. This date can be found on your My Profile page in eProg.
- checked if there are any implications for your visa status, including the end date. Visa sponsorship is maintained on the basis that there is intention to return to the UK before the end of the submission pending period. Note, if you are considering applying for an extension to submission pending this may impact your visa status. Further guidance is available from the Student Immigration Team.
- discussed the change in your location with your supervisor(s).
- discussed the change in your location with your sponsor if you are on a funded studentship.
Note that falsification of information as part of this application may be a disciplinary matter.

What are the next steps?
After you submit your questionnaire, it will be processed and reviewed by Doctoral Academy staff to ensure all required information is included. You will receive an email, from My Placement, when the questionnaire has been submitted and will receive a further email when the questionnaire has been processed. Or you can check the status of your record in My Placement. Be sure to check your University email address.
